With the ever present need to shift left and capture defects earlier, capturing defects in the requirements stage is highly valuable.
This practical guide is suitable for candidates that are new to the testing industry and require a guide on how to convert requirements from spec documents to actual tests to be run.
Traditional courses examining requirements quality and static testing introduce reviews as a method for detecting defects. Reviews can be difficult to organise and require the active involvement of people from a variety of project perspectives or roles. This course looks at techniques for effectively capturing defects without involving so many people. These techniques are easier to organise, rely on fewer people and can empower a single team (for example requirements engineers or software testers) to detect defects. The techniques are therefore cost effective as well as easier to schedule.
By the end of the course attendees, through instructor-led online presentations and exercises, will be able to:
- Identify and assess requirements quality.
- Use several techniques to capture defects in requirements.
- Measure quality improvement to requirements.
- Present an assessment of quality and the improvement of quality to management.
- Extract requirements from spec documents/wireframes.
- Design tests to be run manually and automated at a later stage.
- Requirements and quality
- Types of defects and their detection
- Value of quality in requirements
- Overview of reviews
- Reading Techniques
- Requirements Testing
- Early Test Design
There are no specific prerequisites for this course. Previous experience in the software development lifecycle is recommended.
Who should attend
This course is suitable for anyone who works with requirements and wants to ensure the quality of those requirements leading to quality test cases.
